A few months ago, Everette Fortner, the Director of our Career Development Center and Head of Corporate Relations here at Darden came by my office to ask me if I would be on a panel of speakers at a career fair that he was organizing for our recruiters and alumni. He asked Peter Rodriguez, a professor in our Global Economics and Markets area to go over the current state of the global financial crisis. Then, he said, he wanted me to use the concepts from our new book, Lift, to talk about what we can do to “lift” ourselves out of this crisis. I think I made some kind of sarcastic reply, like, “Why don’t you give me a hard assignment next time, Everette?”
As it turns out, Peter and I had a great time working together at the event. The audience seemed to enjoy it, and we managed to get it recorded. So for this week’s blog entry, I am including the video of our presentations. I broke the video up into three segments so that blog readers can choose which portions they want to watch. The first segment is Peter’s talk, the second segment is my talk, and the third segment is the questions and answers.
