Partner Bios

Shawn QuinnShawn Quinn, M.A. is an instructor in the Executive Education Program at the University of Michigan. He teaches courses on leadership, change and innovation. Shawn also plays a key role at the University in the Center for Positive Organizational Scholarship where he works with organizations interested in applying positive organizing concepts.

Shawn specializes in helping companies to apply positive organizing concepts and related methods to improve organizational performance.   Shawn has consulted with more than forty companies such as General Electric, Coca Cola, American Express, Reuters and the U.S. Army. At Prudential Retirement, for example, he recently guided their internal change agent team in building a positive corporate culture. At General Electric he has helped design and run the initial idea generation process for one of their key Imagination Breakthrough projects. At the University of Michigan Health System he has run ongoing action workshops to help nurses in each unit begin to develop the tools and capabilities to create a more empowered environment. Shawn has also helped develop and run the Competing Values Change and Innovation Assessment with over one hundred teams and organizations. Ryan QuinnRyan Quinn, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. He teaches and researches in the area of change management, with specific interests in topics such as high-impact communication, innovation, organizational learning, energizing the workplace, high-performance experiences, power, and courage. He teaches in the MBA program and in the Executive Education program, and has consulted for Fortune 500 companies, private firms, and start-up businesses. He is also involved in the Darden/Curry Partnership for Leaders in Education’s Turnaround Specialist Program, helping to train principals who are attempting to transform public schools in which students are not achieving academic standards. Robert Quinn Robert Quinn, Ph.D. is the Margaret Elliott Tracy Collegiate Professor in Business Administration and Professor of Management and Organizations at the University of Michigan. He is interested in the process of positive change. He seeks to understand processes that lead to increased individual and collective capacity.  He is concerned about individuals and organizations learning to function at ever higher levels of complexity and performance.
